Susan Olapade
I build AI products that people actually use.
Co-founder & CPO at Akaani, where I own product and growth for an AI nutrition platform. Business Intelligence Engineer at AWS Marketplace, where I drove adoption of data products and pioneered agentic AI systems in production.
I think in systems, ship with urgency, and bring founder-level ownership to every problem.

Akaani — First AI Nutrition App for Nigerian Meals
Built the first app to track macros for Nigerian meals. Proprietary database of 200+ meals powers Lu, an AI assistant that generates weekly meal plans and grocery lists. 2,000+ signups, 42% DAU lift post-Lu.
Business Intelligence Engineer II · AWS Marketplace
AWS AI Insights — From Narrative Automation to Agentic Systems
Pioneered LLM-powered narrative automation for AWS Marketplace reporting. Now building agentic AI systems in production: multi-dimensional renewals agent and oncall support agent that automates data access and discovery.
Business Intelligence Engineer II · AWS Marketplace
AWS Data Products — Scalable Decision Systems
Built 3 high-adoption decision systems: 5,000+ users, 40 hrs/week saved, load time cut from 90s to 5s across 100M+ rows. Promoted to L5 based on scope and impact.
Business Intelligence Engineer II · AWS Marketplace · In Progress
Renewals Propensity Model — Predicting Churn Before It Happens
Building a predictive model that scores expiring AWS Marketplace Private Offers by renewal likelihood, shifting teams from reactive outreach to proactive, data-driven prioritization.
About
Builder at the intersection
I'm a builder working at the intersection of AI, data, and user experience.
At Akaani, I co-founded and lead product for the first AI-powered nutrition app for Nigerian meals, available on iOS and Android. I manage a product designer and product marketer, own the full growth funnel, and built the system architecture that powers Lu: a proprietary database of 200+ Nigerian meals layered with rule-based filtering and LLM reasoning.
At AWS, I was promoted to L5 Business Intelligence Engineer for building scalable data products used by 5,000+ people across AWS Marketplace. I pioneered the first LLM-powered narrative automation for Marketplace reporting and am currently shipping agentic AI systems in production: a multi-dimensional renewals agent (in testing) and an oncall support agent that automates data access and metrics discovery.
My edge is thinking in systems: understanding how data flows, where decisions break down, and how AI can close that gap. I'm moving fully into product, combining founder experience, AI systems thinking, and AWS-scale execution.
Thinking
How I think about AI systems
Structured data + model reasoning
The most reliable AI systems combine rule-based structure with model flexibility — not one or the other.
Decision systems vs dashboards
Dashboards show data. Decision systems guide action. The gap between them is where most product thinking lives.
Feedback loops improve AI
A system that learns from user behavior compounds in value. Static outputs don't.
Reactive → proactive AI
The next generation of AI products won't wait to be asked. They'll surface the right insight at the right moment.

Cooking
Growing up cooking Nigerian food is why I built Akaani. When the tools don't exist for the food you eat, you build them.
